Situation

Summary background of the organization
WBL researches, recruits and initiates youth campaigns about the
complex issue of violence prevention.
The group aims to change community norms, values and attitudes about
violence; by raising awareness about artistic outlets for youth;
promoting success and prosperity as a viable option for DC youth;
and fostering collaborations between corporate citizens, university
students and community partners to play productive roles in the
lives of youth. In addition, this group encourages and supports
communication between guardians/parents and their children about
violence, health and the numerous viable alternatives to violence
and self destructive behavior.
Obstacles

This is an all-volunteer group with no paid staff on a limited budget.
This group has many different programs, each with unique needs.

Design
Response
The steps and solution taken by the CreateAThon design team
With the obstacles listed above in mind, the designers prepared
a campaign of uniquely sized, attention-getting posters. The size
and shape will facilitate easy placement on locations from lockers
to telephone poles. In addition, the overall look of the design
itself acts as an oversized exclamation mark, conveying the excitement,
vitality, and creative energy of the hip hop culture.
