Community Harvest
Situation
Summary background of the organization
Community Harvest was founded on the belief that ALL people should
have access to fresh, healthy food, regardless of their neighborhood
or income level. Without needing to resort to emergency food supplies,
scavenging or stealing. The mission of Community Harvest is to create
a locally rooted and sustainable food system that meets the needs
of both low-income communities and small farmers in the Washington
DC region.
Obstacles
The communication challenges faced
The group needed a tool that accurately talks, visually and with
focused messaging, about what they are doing and how they are reaching
their core audience.
Design
Response
The steps and solution taken by the CreateAThon design team
A holistic and very fresh look was selected to convey the spirit
of the organization. This design effect was seen as one that would
reach both the youth market and seniors while also visually connecting
the farmers to the urban audiences they serve. In each of the designs,
the urban style was married with the tradition of what is seen in
farmers’ markets.
